 I have lived in South Bristol for 51of my 56 years and have spent a great deal of time watching birds and animals in the fields around Ashton Vale. I started getting interested in birds when I was six years old just after we moved to Ashton,kids in those days never had Game boys or computers, we had the fields,and we collected birds eggs which we would display in a shirt box either filled with fine saw dust or cotton wool.We had a code in that we would only take one egg from each nest,looking back now I cringe at how many eggs we had collected but it gave me a insight in to birds and their lives.In later life I always hated the egg collecting but felt better after I had read that Bill Oddie had a similar start to birding.

 I decided to start my own web site and fill it with photos of birds and animals to show the people of Bristol and Ashton Vale what is on their doorstep. Its true there has been many changes to the countryside over the past years, and there is more to come but it is imperative that the wild life is not threatend or destroyed.
